Analyzing Music Magazine 2

In this front cover for NME magazine a number of conventions and techniques have been used in order to give a certain effect. Firstly, most of the usual conventions of a magazine have been used for example masthead, main image, fonts all of which follow a color scheme of pink, purple, black and white. I would say the cover is extremely effective as the use of bright colors against of background of white catch your eye quite easily. In this issue, i would not say the conventions have been challenged as such as it seems to follow the basic principles of any regular magazine and doesn’t do anything unusual or different. The genre of music given its based around Hendrix is psycodelia and 60′s rock. The bold colour scheme and choice makes it apparent what the genre of music is as this sort of colour is often accociated with that genre or time period. I believed it is informative in terms of my research as it gives a clear idea of the types of colour scheme’s that work and sets a clear example of a different styled layout.
